"On the 29th of June 1837, William - along with James Wilson, Rachael Breeds and Harriet Lepper - broke into the house of Thomas Field in Westfield, and stole various articles of clothing.
Date Tried: 19th March 1838 Sussex Assizes
Sentence: The men were sentenced to be transported for ten years. Rachael and Harriet were sentenced to one year's hard labour.
Whilst still a serving convict he applied to marry Anne Noonan in Port Macquarie.
Convict settler (standing Number 382 438 Ident No 176) departed Portsmouth 31/7/1838 arrived on "PORTSEA" Sydney 18/12/1838, (140 men,240 Females, 239 other, Sam John Lowe Master, Thos Bell Surgeon
. Tried Sussex Assizes 19/3/1838, sentenced to 10 yrs for housebreaking, described as labourer could read & write. Moved to Walcha on marriage. Height 5'4.25", complexion sallow & freckled,
hair - brown, eyes - hazel. Tatoos incl. William Taylor is buried in Old C of E Section, Row J, Lot 22. William was a farmer of Barney Downs and a carrier between coast and tablelands.
