"APPLICATION FOR A PROTECTION ORDER. - At the Police Court, on Tuesday morning last, before the Police Magistrate, Mary Phister, wife of James Phister, of Three-Mile Creek, appeared, and deposed that , on the 17th ultimo, she was compelled to leave her husband owing to his violence and his abuse, for which she had given him no cause. Since that date her husband had contributed nothing towards he r support, but she had maintained herself by her own lawful industry. She therefore asked that an order be granted to her protecting any goods that she had acquired, or might acquire, from her husba nd or his creditors. The order was accordingly granted." from Queensland Times newspaper 1 April 1897.
